  • Q How do you view live footage and playback videos from your PC, Mac or Smartphone?

A Step1: Have your device set up with the software to connect to the NVR.
(1)-Use Internet Explorer and navigate to www.xmeye.net and follow the login instructions by using your device serial number. You will also need to download and install a plug-in that will be prompted at first use. Other browsers are not yet supported. You can also use the included CMS software on the CD.
(2)-Install the VMS software provided on the CD.
(3)-Download the XMEye app available from the Google Play for Android products and AppStore for Apple products. We recommend using login by Device using the serial and admin password of the device.

Step2: Be sure to have your NVR connected via ethernet to your router, that it has an IP address with a valid gateway to the Internet.
  • Q How do you set up the NVR to connect to the network?

A Step1: Connect a network cable to the NVR. Go to the NVR Main Menu->Network menu to configure the IP settings. You can select DHCP to have your DVR get an IP from your router automatically, which can change on reboot or set a static IP that will not conflict with your other devices. Refer to your router manual on setting IP ranges for DHCP use for setting up a static IP outside the DHCP range on the same subnet.
Step2: Go back to Main Menu->Info->Version and check for NAT status. If the status is connected, that means the network connection is working. If the status is probing, you need check your network settings again and compare the network settings with a working system of a different IP address. Please note that every connected device has its own unique IP address in your network. If two devices with the same IP exist, that means you won’t have a working connection because of an IP conflict.
  • Q How do you record video onto your DVR?

A Step1: You must install a hard drive to record video. We recommend Western Digital Purple or Seagate Skyhawk surveillance hard drives.
Step2: Go to the Record menu to fine tune recording settings. The default recording mode with a hard drive is constant 24 hour loop recording.
  • Q How I reset the NVR back to factory default settings?

A From the NVR console, navigate from the Main Menu->Advanced->Restore. Choose ‘All’ to default setting.
  • Q I forgot the IP Camera admin password, what do I do?

A For only the brand of cameras sold by ESET and Westshine, please send an email to semon@esetcctv.com for assistance. We will provide reset instructions.
  • Q I forgot the NVR admin password, what do I do?

A If you forget your login password, reboot your DVR and retry typing your password 3 times from the DVR console with a monitor connected. The screen will display a QR code. Take a clear photo of the DVR screen with the QR code and send the photo to semon@esetcctv.com for a reply with a valid password.
  • Q What is the problem if the IP camera is connected to the NVR, but it is not producing a picture?

A Step1: Check that the RJ45 ethernet cable is properly seated at both ends; the IP Camera and the NVR.
Step2: Check to see if Power-Over-Ethernet (POE) is feeding power through the ethernet cable.
Step3: Try a different Ethernet cable or another means to power the IP camera if your setup does not have a POE Injector.
Step4: Check your camera specifications to be sure the Onvif protocol is supported.
Step5: Check the camera resolution. If camera resolution is higher than the NVR resolution, camera will not produce a picture. (e.g. 5MP camera connecting to 2MP NVR. 5MP camera need to connect to 5MP or better NVR). The camera resolution must be equal or less than the NVR set resolution.
Step6: Log into the IP Camera directly by following its instruction manual (you can mix and match brands as long as the resolution is equal or lower than the NVR limit). Set the IP camera substream to D1, CIF or VGA resolution.
  • Q How do you fix the NVR when the IP camera is connected, but the console monitor shows "big red X"?

A You need to make sure both the IP Camera and NVR are set to either both use PAL or NTSC. You cannot mix and match settings between the camera and NVR.
  • Q How do you correct settings for the NVR if the console monitor outputs a picture at full screen for a channel, but not when showing 4 channels or more?

A The IP camera might not have the correct setting for substream. You must log into your IP camera and change the sub-stream resolution to D1, VGA or CIF resolution.
  • Q How do you fix the NVR with pop up reminders to upgrade firmware and may freeze?

A Please power cycle and cold boot your NVR without the network cable attached. You’ll need to set a new password and go into NVR Main Menu->Info->Version. Take a photo of the version menu and send the photo to semon@esetcctv.com. We will send updated firmware and instructions on how to upgrade.
  • Q What do you do if the installed hard drive is not detected by the NVR?

A Step1: Check that the hard drive SATA data and power cables are properly connected and seated. Try a different data cable if the one provided does not work with your selected hard drive.
Step2: Some hard drives require more power. You may need to purchase a 12V/5A power adapter for the NVR, which is widely available with a standard plug for CCTV devices.
Step3: Some NVRs have two hard disk ports. We recommend you try to install and boot one hard drive at a time and not to mix and match different model hard drives.
Step4: Some SATA hard drives may not be compatible with the NVR. We recommend you to have a surveillance hard drive already available that is tested working on a standard computer to be installed. Surveillance hard drives have special firmware optimizations made specifically for writing video 24x7 that standard hard drives do not have.
  • Q How do I get a picture to show when connecting a monitor to the NVR?

A Step1: Check to ensure NVR is powered on, fully booted and you’re at the main menu.
Step2: Check NVR to Monitor cabling, such as the HDMI cable. Try a different HDMI cable to rule out cable incompatibility.
Step3: Check the monitor resolution. The default NVR output resolution is 1280*1024, which may not be supported by your monitor. To fix this issue you can try:
    1. You may need to try a different monitor that supports the output resolution
    2. Connect the NVR directly to your PC using an RJ45 cable. Disable your PC WiFi and change your PC network card IP address to 192.168.1.2. Using Internet Explorer, point the URL to 192.168.1.9. Download and run the plug-in installation. Once you log into your DVR, you will then be able to adjust the resolution from the configuration menu. Please note the default user name is admin with a blank password if this is your first time turning on the NVR.

A We take our customers’ information seriously and keep it confidential. We never share this information with any third party.
